Heading to 4164

from £50.00

With a wind-chill of -15˚C it was cold. I was short of breath just standing on the lookout point of the Klein Matterhorn at a mere 3883m above sea level. The clouds had been encircling the peaks all morning and I wasn’t sure my journey would bare fruit. But just as I climbed the final few steps to the viewing platform, the clouds parted and afforded me the view you see here.

There are so many elements to love about this image. The brutal rock face, the virgin snow, the seemingly fragile glacial formations under the peak of snow… but perhaps my favourite elements are the three intrepid climbers heading up to summit the Breithorn at 4164m. You’ll need to look for them as, in comparison to the mountain, they are tiny, but they’re there, in clear relief against the white of the eternal snow.
